...More AP Stats
Dallas ISD, November 3, 2008

  • In Texas, 135,130 students took AP exams in 2006-2007. That is 15 times more than the number of students who sat for AP exams in 1986-1987 (8,792) or an average increase of 6,300 students every year for 20 years.
  • That startling increase is also ten times more than the national average. There were just over 5.5 times as many examinees in 2006-07 (1,432,169 examinees) as in 1986-87 (259,222 examinees).
  • The majority of Texas AP students took more than one AP test. In 2006-07, a total of 135,130 students took 246,096 AP examinations.
Since the creation of the O'Donnell Foundation, and through the diligent work of founders Peter and Edith O'Donnell, Texas has steadily increased its AP test enrollment over the last two decades.
