College Bowl 2006
Practice Examination
The College Bowl event is an opportunity for students to prepare for the College Board's National Music Theory AP Examination in May. Additionally, this event is useful for the participating Music Theory instructors to gauge their students' progress and performance so that they can provide their students with additional preparation before the official examination. Students took practice exams in the areas of Figured Bass, Harmonic & Melodic Dictation, Melodic Harmonization, Sight-Singing, Listening Skills, and Fundamentals of Theory. Their test answers were then entered into a central grading system for scoring. The results of the testing were tabulated and reported on the same day in order for Dr. Blaise Ferrandino of Texas Christian University to give students feedback and advice for improvement before they take the official Music Theory examination in May.

- At this year's College Bowl event, 163 students from 11 high schools took the practice Music Theory Exam.

- Mr. Dale Fleury from AP Strategies demonstrates the scoring system.

- Students enter their answers electronically to be scored.

- Dr. Ferrandino from Texas Christian University offers students feedback on their practice exams and advice on how to further prepare for the AP® Music Theory Exam given by the College Board in May.
