O'Donnell Texas AP® Teacher AwardThe O'Donnell Foundation and Communities Foundation of Texas (CFT) are pleased to announce the inaugural year of the O'Donnell Texas AP® Teacher Award. The award will be presented annually to one Advanced Placement teacher in a Texas public high school for remarkable contributions to his or her students and school, as well as to the teaching profession. The award includes a cash prize of $30,000 and will be presented on Friday, November 7, 2008 at the College Board Forum at the Hilton Americas in Houston . Nominations for The O'Donnell Texas AP ® Teacher Award may be submitted by a teacher, administrator, AP ® student, or parent of an AP ® student. Nominees must be a current classroom Advanced Placement® teacher in a Texas public high school, have a minimum of five (5) years teaching AP® courses in Texas, demonstrate a commitment to teaching as a career, and be an inspiring model of excellence to others. To nominate an eligible teacher, please complete the nomination form, including essay response on pages 2 and 3. This document, along with two letters of recommendation – one from the nominator and one from a teacher, administrator, AP ® student, or parent of an AP ® student, must be emailed to Kelly Braswell at CFT at kbraswell@cftexas.org no later than Friday, August 29, 2008. Incomplete and/or late nominations will not be considered. Please notify the teacher that you are nominating them so they will know to expect an emailed application form from CFT. Qualified nominees will be emailed an award application to complete and submit, along with a resume, no later than September 12, 2008. The application documents will be reviewed by an advisory committee appointed by the Trustees of CFT. Finalists will be contacted for interviews; the advisory committee will recommend an award recipient to the Trustees for approval.
